There are certain people that Travellers consider close to God through their lifestyle and the gifts they possess. These men and women, who may be lay people, nuns or priests, are people of prayer and insight. Travellers along with many settled people travel the length and breadth of the country to meet with a holy person or someone with a cure. These people make the healing presence of Christ among us more visible. In meeting with a holy person and in telling them one’s trouble’s and worries, Travellers are confident that God will answer it in one way or another.
I love visiting Sr. Barbara, she’s a proper saint. I have great belief in her and always feel better when I go to see her and talk to her. In a way, I feel close to God when I see her.
There is a belief that holy people can ‘see right through you’ into your own soul. In this way, people are called to be honest with themselves before God, in the presence of a holy person.
By God’s revelation, the invisible God, from the fullness of his love, addresses men and women as his friends and moves among them in order to invite and receive them into his own company.
