We set off early on Thursday morning from Finglas with a packed coach of adults and children. We were well entertained on our journey by the children singing. The children were given a rosary beads each and one of the group said the Rosary with the children.
When we got to Knock, we visited the Carmelite convent where Sr Josephine made us very welcome. She was very happy to see so many children in our group and encouraged them to keep up the faith, to go to Mass and to pray. The whole group put their intentions in a box and lit a candle.
Sr. Josephine told us that she and the rest of the Carmelite Sisters would continue to pray for our intentions.
We then did the stations of the cross which was led by Fr Paul from the Parish of the Travelling People. The reflection for each station was read by members of the group including adults and children. The reflections were especially written to reflect the lives of the Traveller community with the trials and tribulation we face in life.
We all had our own free time to do our own things around Knock and then met up for the 3pm Mass.
Back on the bus on the way home, Georgina and Geraldine did a quiz with religious questions for the adults and children. This was good fun and got the whole group on the bus involved, then just enough time to have another sing song on the bus before arriving home.
This was a great and enjoyable day, and we hope to make this an annual event.
