We work with Travellers to build a just, inclusive and welcoming community in and through faith

Ritual expression of faith

Posted in Pastoral Care

The catechists in the parish provide out of school preparation for the sacraments of Penance, First Communion, and Confirmation. This is an essential service for the more nomadic families who may have missed out on sacramental preparation.

In co-operation with Accord Marriage Counselling Service, the parish  runs a pre-marriage course that is culturally appropriate. This gives couples a choice of joining in mainstream perpetration or accessing a service that has an understanding of where they are coming from.

Travellers mourn their dead by celebrating mass, in addition to funeral liturgies, some families have a 9th day blessing, months minds, and the on the first years anniversary the headstone is put up and blessed.
